Fundamentals of Electroforming – Electroforming Basics – Self Directed Class Available Now!

Hosted by Zurich Glass School, this is a basic hands-on class that teaches students the fundamentals of electroforming. The focus of this class is to make the student self-sufficient in the process of electroforming by understanding the science behind electroforming. Students will learn to set-up an electroforming tank and set a DC-power converter also known as a rectifier. We will electroform inert materials such as glass, reactive materials such as a shells, dried leaves and flowers.

Copper Electroforming-Designing and Creating Using Conductive Materials

Students should be familiar with basic electroforming procedures.

“Designing and Creating Using Conductive Materials” focuses on using previously electroformed components in its construction and designs. This design features electroformed flowers and Victorian charms. I have used cabochon beads, semi-precious stones, ceramic faces, electroformed lizards, or anything your imagination desires. These techniques will take your work to “the next level”! Skills include learning the properties of electroforming when using conductive elements such as
charms, previously electroformed items on a brass or copper base. Additional skills will include the manipulation of a curved surface to accommodate the design.
Equipment not included. Uses both the Zoom and the Facebook platforms.

Copper Electroforming – Designing and Creating Using Reactive Materials

Coming Soon to Zurich Glass School

Students should be familiar with basic electroforming procedures.

“Designing and Creating Using Reactive Materials” is all about learning how to join individual elements together using electroforming techniques to create finished pieces of jewelry. This class addresses the challenges associated with minerals and reactive elements used to embellish a wearable art pendant. In this class we will create a pendant composed of shells and shell fragments, a fossil ammonite, pearls, gems, sea glass, and other materials to illustrate the process of using reactive materials. Students will learn basic stone setting, sealing, framing, and gluing techniques.

Copper Electroforming – Lasting Impressions – Molds and Etching

Coming Soon to Zurich Glass School

Students should be familiar with basic electroforming procedures.

“Lasting Impressions” focuses on the reproduction of electroformed creations and creating reproductions of elements to use in electroformed pieces. I have used
cameos, parts of action figures, previously electroformed pieces, or anything your imagination desires. Skills include making a mold to create a wax positive and using the wax positive in a project. In addition, students will learn to etch while electroforming.

Equipment not included. Uses both the Zoom and the Facebook platforms.
